Life here is nothing like what you've been used to, once you are acclimated you will find times that you may have need to relocate multiple times in one day so PLEASE don't expect to park yourself in one city for the duration, be prepared & CHECK MAIL REGULARLY
Faction Occupation Rate or "FOR"
Occupation rate has nothing to do with the players present in a area, but resembles more shares of a company. In the same way if someone holds more shares than anyone else they become the boss a company, the same happens with factions and occupation rate.
When your Faction Occupation Rate exceeds that of other factions in a area, this area will be occupied by your own faction.(Example Poseidon has 40% Zeus 30% and Athens 30%. The area will belong to Poseidon)
There are 3 ways of increasing Faction Occupation Rate in a City:
1) Investing > every maximum investment (10 Prosperity) will count as 1% faction occupation rate.
2) Attacking > every 2 succesfull attacks will count as 1% faction occupation rate
3) Area Battles > every succesfull Area battle where your faction is the attacking side gives 20% faction occupation rate.
Why are cities so important?
Simple. The more cities you have as a faction, the more space available for players. Imagine your faction has 1 level 100 city, while an oppsing faction has 6 cities. Your faction has to share all the silver mines and farms available in your city. the opposing faction has 6 cities where they can split up so they all have enough farms and mines to quickly progress in the game.
Important changes with The New Version:
Nobility affect FOR more, Wanted List makes players attack Nobility.
Investing gives FOR, but also increases your hostility therefore increasing likely-hood of being attacked.
Attacking high hostility players gives more FOR, more Prestige.
Political Center:
( IOLCUS, CYDONIA, TYRINS )
Importance: Best avoided
Update: Losing a battle in this city will cause your faction to lose FOR in all their other cities. You should look at these cities as the "very dangerous" places. Basileus can mark players in this city as SPY to avoid FOR loss but should not have to.
Economic Center:
( PELION, MYCENAE, DELOS )
Importance: High Importance
"Investment in this area can double Faction Occupation Rate". This is one of the easier cities to defend and you get High Levies, High Prosperity.
Cultural Center:
( THEBES, SPARTA, ATHENS )
Importance: Low Importance
This is the new safe heaven. (you cannot refine in this city when it doesn't belong to your faction).
Nobility that are not the strongest player must sit in this city to avoid huge FOR loss. when getting farmed.
"Gamers of different Factions can relocate to this Area". No matter which Faction is in control, you can move over to this city whenever you want.
Trade Center:
( PTELEUS, LORENZO, OLYMPIA )
Importance: Low importance
Update decreased the investing impact on FOR. Difficult and very expensive to defend. Not worth as much as before. You are better off using Military Center to attack.
Attack players in these cities to drop their FOR easily and if they want to keep it, you make them invest and waste 180k Drachmas daily on several accounts, which in turn increase their Hostility and their FOR loss when defeated. Very good place to farm lots of (~weak) archenemies.
It's a vicious circle that will make you spend more defending this city and you won't have much opportunity to invest in other cities... (Ignore above If your faction can handle this)
"Gamers of this Area can invest in other Lv 100 Areas". This city allows you to attack every single city on the map through investing. Even in Winter this city can invest in cities of other factions, to gain little Faction Occupation.
Military Center:
( TAENARUM, THRYNACIA, MARATHON )
Importance: Very important
Update increased FOR damage done by Nobility.
(Basileus in Military center winning over purple Basileus can gain up to 9-12%FOR)
If you are not the strongest players and get farmed easily, sit in Cultural Center.
"Attacking players from this area will double the Faction Occupation Rate". This means whenever you are located in this city, all your attacks will count as 1-12% faction occupation. Generally you want the strongest players of the faction in this city. They can easily occupy a city in a day or two depending on how many players are in this city.
Investing
Update decreased the investing impact on FOR.
(now reduced to 0.5% I think, also depends on current FOR)
Investing gives you Faction occupation in the city you are currently located in (with trade centers as exception). Every 10 Prosperity investment gives 1% faction occupation rate. A gamer can invest 3 times a day. the cost of 10 prosperity starts at 16,000 drachmas, and will go up whenever the prosperity moves up. However more Prosperity also gives more drachmas whenever you levy.
Investing also gives a gamer Prestige. the formula for this is:
Level of gamer x 2 x Prosperity = Amount of Prestige
lets say you are level 40, and you choose the option of 10 prosperity: 40 x 2 x 10 = 800 prestige.

Area Battles:
These battles become available when you reach lvl 60 Area, so you might be familiar with them.
There are a couple of requirements to launch an area battle:
- Minimum amount of players in the area must be 5.
- your Hostility must be yellow (Bully) or higher.
There is no way to check your hostility, other than asking someone from a different faction.
The following example, is how area battles work:
You are a poseidon in lvl 100 Area, located in Taenarum. there are 2 Area battles in Autumn:
Athens VS Taenarum
Taenarum VS Olympia
the First battle is against Athens (athenian). They are the attacking side. If you lose this Area battle you will be losing 20% faction occupation. If you win this battle, you keep your faction occupation and nothing really happens.
The second battle is against Olympia(athenian), You are the attacking side. if you win this battle, you obtain 20% faction occupation in Olympia. if you lose nothing happens.
As you can see, whenever you are on the attacking side, you can never lose faction occupation. If your faction lacks a lot of strong players, try to make sure you only have a maximum of 4 players in every city as to avoid area battles.
